           Product: Apache httpd-2
           Version: 2.0.58
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: mod_rewrite
        AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
        ReportedBy: cc.chen@fsd.com.my

Hi all,

I have two problems that need your help.

1) I have below configure as part of my httpd.conf

This work fine when i enter "http://172.18.20.23", the page will redirect
to "https://172.18.20.23/subdir/".
But it doens't redirect to the page when i enter "https://172.18.20.23",
instead the apache default page is showed.

2) When I include the 'RewriteEngine on' in the VirtualHost, the browser will
keep looping and never ending.
ut it work fine when after I take out the 'RewriteEngine on' in VirtualHost.

I have this configuration in my previous apache1.3.33 which never has this
problem. I doubt the configuration has changed in Apache2.

################
RewriteEngine on
RewriteLog "/opt/apache2.0.58/logs/rewrite.log"
RewriteLogLevel 9

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} ^TRACE
RewriteRule .* - [F]

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST}   ^172.18.20.23
RewriteRule ^/(.*)         https://%{HTTP_HOST}/subdir/  [R]

<IfDefine SSL>
	<VirtualHost 172.18.20.23:443>
		RewriteEngine on
		RewriteOptions inherit
		.........
	</VirtualHost>
</IfDefine>
