           Summary: PHP Causes Apache Fatal Exception Error
           Product: Apache httpd-1.3
           Version: 1.3.34
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Windows XP
            Status: NEW
          Severity: critical
          Priority: P2
         Component: Other
        AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
        ReportedBy: apache@soware.co.uk

Please accept my apologies if this is in the wrong place - I am not advanced
enough to re-compile Apache on windows as requested however here goes:

When executing the following line in PHP

print readfile("http://$socketHost:$socketNum/$url");
where
$socketNum=5800;
$socketHost="localhost";
$url="VncViewer.Class";

The server actually crashes and windows presents me with a Fatal Exception Box.
Apache is not running as a service - started using the command line. There is
nothing noted in the apache error log.

PHP is running fine and I have had no problems with it before.

Once again I am terribly sorry to provide such inadequate information and if
there is anything I can do to help out more, please tell me!

FYI: I was trying to pass through a VNC service on port 80 using mod_rewrite
from a /vnc directory. As you can probably see, I am using ockets most of the
time but thought it would be easier to just pass through binary files when not
transferring such data (ie in case I wanted to be able to point it at other
machines inside my home network - specifically the HTTP interface on the
router.) hence trying this function.

The contents of the appcompat.txt from XP is:
