Summary: --prefix does not override defaults for all target dirs
           Product: Apache httpd-2
           Version: 2.2.0
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Build
        AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
        ReportedBy: alistair@maclean-nj.com

The default is nominally /usr/local/apache2. I have a 2.0.55 install I wished to
preserve. I set the ./configure --prefix= parameter to /usr/local/apache22. It
compiled and installed, but looking at the output it showed several directories
were updated on the existing apache2 tree, not the new apache22 tree.

For example,

/usr/bin/install -c -m 755 .libs/libaprutil-1.lai
/usr/local/apache22/lib/libaprutil-1.la
/usr/bin/install -c -m 755 .libs/libaprutil-1.a
/usr/local/apache22/lib/libaprutil-1.a
ranlib /usr/local/apache22/lib/libaprutil-1.a
chmod 644 /usr/local/apache22/lib/libaprutil-1.a

[ lots of lines ]

Installing configuration files
[PRESERVING EXISTING HTDOCS SUBDIR: /usr/local/apache2/htdocs]
[PRESERVING EXISTING ERROR SUBDIR: /usr/local/apache2/error]
[PRESERVING EXISTING ICONS SUBDIR: /usr/local/apache2/icons]
[PRESERVING EXISTING CGI SUBDIR: /usr/local/apache2/cgi-bin]

Only 3 new directories were created in /usr/local/apache22 (bin, modules, lib).
All other updates were done on /usr/local/apache2 directories (conf, include,
build).
