Summary: configure hangs on "checking for AIX" unless EGREP="grep
                    -E" is passed to configure
           Product: Apache httpd-2.0
           Version: 2.1-HEAD
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Build
        AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
        ReportedBy: azverkan@yahoo.com

Upon configuring the HEAD of the httpd2 trunk, I get a hang immediately after
the message "checking for AIX", at this point the build process is running the
"yes" command and if I kill this command the build process errors the rest of
the way out.

If I manually pass the line EGREP="grep -E" on the ./configure line, it won't
hang checking for AIX and configure succesfully completes.

Debian Sarge
  make 3.80-9
  grep 2.5.1.dsl-4
  autoconf 2.59a-3

httpd2, apr, and apr-util are all from SVN trunk

srclib contains apr, apr-util, and pcre

Output from configure after APR and APR-UTIL finish:
