Both, 2.0.54 and 2.0.55 have this problem for me.  Then I remembered that gawk-
3.1.4 (which I had on my system) has already caused heavy troubles while 
building other packages in the past.  Back in that time it was the newest 
version, but now I upgraded to gawk-3.1.5 and after deleting 'exports.c' it got 
properly generated and all went fine.
