OK, now we're getting somewhere (at last, some usable information)!  Changing 
it to a cache bug.  Though it's still not clear whether this is an Apache bug 
or a MANDRAKE bug! 
 
Apache 2.1 has quite a lot of cache fixes.  If anyone who has experienced this 
problem would like to try the 2.1 mod_cache, maybe you could tell us if it's 
fixed there.
