The pity is that the extension sdp may never get any status at IANA.
But SUNs application/vnd.stardivision.impress, not registered at IANA is spreading.
Notice, that the extension sdp is as common for application/sdp, which is registered at IANA
(without an extension), as m3u is common for audio/x-mpegurl, which is not registered at IANA
(neither MIME type, nor extension) and was included in mime.types (thanks for that again!)

application/sdp has not been as important as audio/x-mpegurl in the past, but it will become
important in the future, since SDP is some sort of base of VoIP, ISMA MPEG Video streaming
etc.
I would not care about it so much, for the authors of the RFCs it is just a theoretical problem,
for me it was a practical problem.

To add application/sdp sdp into mime.types would stop vendors of Linux distributions to add
application/vnd.stardivision.impress sdp into mime.types, like the inclusion of audio/x-mpegurl
m3u did stop them from adding audio/mpegurl m3u and similar nonsense.

I think somebody must care about such things, SUN did not, mime.types is much more important
than IANA ;-)

Best, H.
