Sorry, I didn't know about it. BTW, that's at
http://www.coelho.net/mod_macro/

IMHO, the external utility approach is more convenient,
easier to document, and allows using (say) @'s rather
than $'s to make regular expressions readable. However,
since mod_macro exists, it may decide to implement that
approach as well.

At this point there is no hurry to fix it. Alternative
approaches may consider embedding a full featured
language, support external GUIs, et cetera.
