           Summary: regexp in SSI puts server task into loop
           Product: Apache httpd-2.0
           Version: 2.0.52
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: mod_include
        AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
        ReportedBy: jhart@bates.edu

The following regexp used in an if statement in an SSI file puts the server
httpd task into a loop. Task has to be killed.

^((.|[[:space:]])*)([[:upper:]]([[:lower:]]+[[:upper:]]|[[:upper:]]+[[:lower:]])[[:alnum:]]*)((.|[[:space:]])*)$

A very similar regexp works fine, although it doesn't do the intended job, of
course:

^((.|a)*)([[:upper:]]([[:lower:]]+[[:upper:]]|[[:upper:]]+[[:lower:]])[[:alnum:]]*)((.|[[:space:]])*)$

Here is the actual code:

<!--#set var="WikiWordRE"
value="^((.|[[:space:]])*)([[:upper:]]([[:lower:]]+[[:upper:]]|[[:upper:]]+[[:lower:]])[[:alnum:]]*)((.|[[:space:]])*)$"
-->
<!--#if expr="$text = /$WikiWordRE/" -->
    <!--#set var="begin" value="$1" -->
    <!--#set var="word" value="$3" -->
    <!--#set var="text" value="$5" -->
    <!--#echo encoding="none" var="begin" --><a href="index.shtml?page=<!--#echo
var="word" -->"><!--#echo var="word" --></a>
<!--#endif -->
<!--#echo var="text" -->
