Summary: Cannot determine that Apache is frozen if /var fills
           Product: Apache httpd-2.0
           Version: 2.0.51
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: P2
         Component: All
        AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
        ReportedBy: a86762af01a5a28ca36db4d6b04e37bdf@hotmail.com

Apache becomes permanently unresponsive if /var fills up. But, it was decided
that having a frozen web server is better than exiting cleanly with an error
message, so bug 17898 was marked as wontfix. Therefore this bug is an
enhancement?

There needs to be a way to poll Apache and determine authoritatively whether or
not it is in this frozen state. This will then allow users to do automated
logging, restarts, or other notification, as they see fit. Currently if you
are trying to achieve high levels of uptime, Apache is a liability.
