thank you very much for your support in trying to find out the root cause for
this problem. think i have a much better picture of what's going on now. also
trying out the 'AccteMutex fcntl' seem to have helped to some extent.

will work with the tomcat guys to see if they have a module that will let me see
what the tomcat is doing...
