RewriteRule: force external redirection is not automatic for non-SSL (http://) access

           Summary: RewriteRule: force external redirection is not automatic
                    for non-SSL (http://) access
           Product: Apache httpd-2.0
           Version: 2.0.50
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Critical
          Priority: Other
         Component: mod_rewrite
        AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
        ReportedBy: sagaralists@yahoo.com

<VirtualHost 192.168.1.3:55000>
 ServerName mail.someDomain.com:55000

 RewriteEngine on
 RewriteRule ^/(.*)     http://www.apple.com/ [L,R]

</VirtualHost>

Behaviour for SSL and non-SSL access is as follows:
1. https://mail.someDomain.com:55000/
Immediately displays the home page of www.apple.com.

2. http://mail.someDomain.com:55000/
Displays following 302 Found page:
Found

    The document has moved here.

    Apache/2.0.50 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.0.50 OpenSSL/0.9.7d Server at
mail.someDomain.com Port 55000

The word 'here' is linked to http://www.apple.com/.

In above step 2, when it is accessing under non-SSL, it should also
automatically redirect to the given URI.

I use Apache 2.0.50 on Intel PIII server running Linux 2.6.X.
