Currently I am struggling to get v2.0.49 built under Redhat Enterprise 3
(grumble ssl problems grumble...). Would it be possible to post a stacktrace of
this problem?

If you run httpd with the -X option it won't try and fork (although with -t I
don't think it tries to fork anyway).
