Webserver process going <DEFUNCT>

           Summary: Webserver process going <DEFUNCT>
           Product: Apache httpd-2.0
           Version: 2.0.48
          Platform: HP
        OS/Version: HP-UX
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: Other
         Component: perchild
        AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
        ReportedBy: kyle.burckhard@attws.com

I am upgrading from apache1.3 to the latest version of apache2 in order to get
php to run as different users based on virtual hosts.

However I can not seem to get any pages to serve, watching the processes of
apache I see child process of the main process running as the correct users but
the process is listed as <DEFUNCT>.

Platform is HP-UX 11.0
