  Please test Andre's patch and comment if you care to see his new efforts
  backported to a coming 2.0.x release.  We need tests from both the project
  and from our wider community.  See Andre's URL above.

  I think this is actually a regression - I'm noticing newly broken behavior
  in the httpd-test/perl-framework/ suite - but then again - it could simply
  be new tests introduced to debug exactly this problem.
