The server signature for the 2.0 tree is currently generated in exactly the same
way that it is in the 1.3 tree (\n included). The \n is included so that the
server signature ends up on its own line in the client's output.

If you would like something other than html output, you would need to do some
processing to construct server content that doesn't contain html tags.
