My first suggestion is to get on the PHP list, show them the backtrace,
tell them your PHP and Apache versions, and get opinions on the likelihood 
that such a problem is already fixed in their next release.

If that is not fruitful, this needs to be debugged on the latest
Apache and PHP code with a debug build (i.e., with symbols).
