Failure to start Apache Server after changes to httpd.conf file

            Status: NEW
          Severity: Critical

New Installation:

Installed Apache 2.0.40 on Win NT 4.0 Workstation (SP 6a)
Installation was successful.

http://localhost is fine

Installed PHP 4.2.3-Win32 on system

Cannot execute PHP scripts

Tried adding following to httpd.conf files, but apache server refuses to start.
LoadModule php4_module c:/php/sapi/php4apache.dll 
AddModule mod_php4.c 
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php 

Also changed AllowOverride from None to All for .htaccess

Get a following error when starting Apache 
The request operation has failed.

New to Apache and PHP. Any insight will be appreciated.
