Subject Tests fail under SuSE 10.1 (64bit)
Date Fri, 02 Mar 2007 09:11:34 GMT
G'day folks,

Firstly, I apologise if this has been answered before but my last few hours
of searching (including archives of this list) haven't turned up anything
and my hair is getting pretty thin. :-|

I am in the (what I consider) enviable position of being able to stipulate
the combination of Apache2/mod_perl2/libapreq2 for development of an
application but haven't been able to get the last part to properly install
under x86_64 SuSE 10.1 (our internal build platform). The eventual
installation will likely be under Solaris or CentOS.

Now, before anybody says "build from source", that's what we've been trying
to do - Apache has been built from the 2.2.4 sources, mod_perl2 from the 2.03
CPAN source and libapreq2 from the 2.08 source.

The SuSE supplied versions for libapr1, libapr-util1, apache, subversion,
etc. have all been removed (we also use a locally built copy of subversion)
so the build/test process shouldn't be finding any "odd" libraries, includes,

The actual build of libapreq2 is fine (at least, we end up with a ".so"
file that ldd is happy with); it's the testing phase that fails dismally.
Tests #22-42 of t/big_request.t and #19-36 of t/request.t fail; everything
else is apparently okay.

I've had a look through the tests and I can't for the life of me see what's
causing the failures. Does anybody have any hints they can offer up?

FYI, our test-bed servers use Prefork MPM but we have no objections over
moving to, say, Worker MPM.

We didn't include them in this email, but we can easily provide the output
from "perl Makefile.PL...", the compilation, the error_log from the test-run
and the actual text output from the test-run if anybody really wants to read
it (if so, we'll put it up on a web-page rather than flooding everybody's
mail box <grin>).

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
