Hmm, I thought libxml2 was GPL, which would present a problem 
for us.  But the xmlsoft.com homepage has it listed as an MIT
license, which should fine.

Sure- the real advanage of using libxml2 is the existing infrastructure
that lives around it (perl wrappers, etc.).  I don't see any harm
in having two xml parsers (at least for the time being), so I'll
see if I can put together a patch for libxml2 to see what folks 
want to do with it.
