this is really nice.

one of the things I've been playing with is a portable way to cache POST params for legacy

CGI scripts running under Apache::Registry, where $apr->instance isn't an option. 
currently, I have to remove $apr->args from $apr->param to get the real POST data.

anyway, providing a separate API is a good idea.
