Subject job submitted but not running
Date Thu, 08 Oct 2015 09:06:04 GMT
Hi,

I am sure you have seen this many times. A simple hive query suddenly sits
doing nothing.

hive> select count(1) from t;

Query ID = hduser_20151008095656_609106f0-d7e9-4d59-bacc-7e437537d9f6

Total jobs = 1

Launching Job 1 out of 1

Number of reduce tasks determined at compile time: 1

In order to change the average load for a reducer (in bytes):

  set hive.exec.reducers.bytes.per.reducer=<number>

In order to limit the maximum number of reducers:

  set hive.exec.reducers.max=<number>

In order to set a constant number of reducers:

  set mapreduce.job.reduces=<number>

Starting Job = job_1444210557071_0011, Tracking URL =
http://rhes564:8088/proxy/application_1444210557071_0011/

Kill Command = /home/hduser/hadoop-2.6.0/bin/hadoop job -kill
job_1444210557071_0011

And this is what I am getting yarn log:

One solution to this problem is to restart Hadoop, hive and yarn. It will
then work. However, I am not sure about the cause. Sounds like resources are
not released for one reason or other!
