   I didn't wanted to get into trouble because of utf stuff; so I clip the message at 1K ;
the purpose of this error message field is to given an idea what was the problem - and not
to provide fully detailed backtrace/etc ; I think 1K might be already too much...in case some
exception puts too much info into the "message" part of the exception....
