Subject [jira] [Created] (HIVE-9848) readlink -f is GNU coreutils only (used in bin/hive)
Date Wed, 04 Mar 2015 04:05:06 GMT
Gopal V created HIVE-9848:

             Summary: readlink -f is GNU coreutils only (used in bin/hive)
                 Key: HIVE-9848
             Project: Hive
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Clients
            Reporter: Gopal V
            Assignee: Gopal V
            Priority: Trivial

  bin=`dirname "$0"`
  # many hadoop installs are in dir/{spark,hive,hadoop,..}
  sparkHome=$(readlink -f $bin/../../spark)

uses -f which means {{canonicalize}} in GNU coreutils and {{format}} in BSD coreutils.

This needs a wrap-around {{test -e}} to prevent invocation against non-existent spark installs.
