Aihua Xu commented on HIVE-9500:
--------------------------------

+[~brocknoland] I'm planning to add a configuration to set the maximum number of levels. As
HIVE-3253 described, it controls the how many separators can be used in a nested field. To
be backward compatible, the existing logic will be there, by default to be 8, and if extend_nesting_levels
is set, the default is 24. Now if max_nesting_levels is set (with range 24 - 128), we will
use byte [0x80, 0xFF] for the additional separators.

> Support nested structs over 24 levels.

> Currently we support up to 24 levels of nested structs when hive.serialization.extend.nesting.levels
is set to true, while the customers have the requirement to support more than that.
> It would be better to make the supported levels configurable or completely removed (i.e.,
we can support any number of levels).
