Subject [jira] [Commented] (HIVE-8290) With DbTxnManager configured, all ORC tables forced to be transactional

Lefty Leverenz commented on HIVE-8290:
--------------------------------------

[~alangates], does NO_AUTO_COMPACTION have to be all caps, or can it be no_auto_compaction
like other table properties?

I see that TRANSACTIONAL is lowercase in the patch, so I'll assume the same goes for no_auto_compaction
even though it's all caps in its patch (HIVE-6319). You can fix it in the wiki if that's
wrong, or tell me to fix it.

> Currently, once a user configures DbTxnManager to the be transaction manager, all tables
that use ORC are expected to be transactional. This means they all have to have buckets.
This most likely won't be what users want.
> We need to add a specific mark to a table so that users can indicate it should be treated
in a transactional way.
