Eugene Koifman commented on HIVE-8191:
--------------------------------------

I think if you want to parametrize the error msg, it's clearer to use {n} like ErrorMsg.TRUNCATE_FOR_NON_MANAGED_TABLE.

Also, SemanticException has a c'tor of the form SemanticException(ErrorMsg errorMsg, String...
msgArgs), which preserves the actual canonical error msg rather than just having a string.
 It makes downstream processing more reliable.

> {code}
> create table not_an_acid_table(a int, b varchar(128));
> insert into table not_an_acid_table select cint, cast(cstring1 as varchar(128)) from
alltypesorc where cint is not null order by cint limit 10;
> delete from not_an_acid_table where b = '0ruyd6Y50JpdGRf6HqD';
> {code}
> This generates a runtime error. It should get a compile error instead.
