Jens Schmitt commented on HIVE-5275:
------------------------------------

update:
my problem seems to be solved... and was probably a different one. some classes where missing.
this worked for the hive console, but appareantly not for any other way (somebody told me,
that if you work via hive-console, there are some background services or smth startet, which
are not for any other way...)

cheers

> HiveServer2 currently ignores the hive.aux.jars.path property in hive-site.xml. That
means that the only way to use a custom SerDe is to add it to AUX_CLASSPATH on the server
and manually distribute the jar to the cluster nodes. Hive CLI does this automatically when
hive.aux.jars.path is set. It would be nice if HiverServer2 did the same.
