Subject [jira] [Commented] (HIVE-5072) [WebHCat]Enable directly invoke Sqoop job through Templeton
Date Tue, 15 Apr 2014 17:14:19 GMT

Eugene Koifman commented on HIVE-5072:

Regarding item 5:
I think it's a bad idea in a multi-tenant system to expect users to modify Sqoops tar file
to include items that are not part of the distribution like specific JDBC jars. For auto
shipping of the tar file to work properly there needs to be a mechanism how user can specify
some path in HDFS where the driver jar can be found and WebHCat needs to ensure that it's
shipped to target node (using "-libjars" for example).

> Now it is hard to invoke a Sqoop job through templeton. The only way is to use the classpath
jar generated by a sqoop job and use the jar delegator in Templeton. We should implement Sqoop
Delegator to enable directly invoke Sqoop job through Templeton.
