Simply because we do not have to, does not mean we cannot. More simply there is no policy
saying we cannot maintain backwards compatibility with existing Parquet users. The work was
done by the Hive developer community for the Hive user community.

bq. There can't be any technical reason to block this patch.

Breaking Hive users, part of the Hive community, is a technical reason.
