Mithun Radhakrishnan commented on HIVE-5290:
--------------------------------------------

Hey, I've a dumb question about the synchronized block in HCatContext.setConf().

setConf() is a synchronized method on a singleton instance. How does the synchronized(conf){}
block protect the iteration? Where exactly is conf being updated?
1. It can't be protection from modification within this function (because the method synchronized).
2. If it's external to this function, do we know that that code is synchronized on the same
conf?
