Subject Forwarding config properties
Date Fri, 25 Oct 2013 08:46:10 GMT
Hello Hive team,

I've just found some problem with forwarding config properties from Hive
CLI to general hadoop configs. Is it possible to recieve needed properties
at the other side of executing query? (i.e at hadoop level)

Refer to HIVE-5640 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-5640> (
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-5640) :

It is impossible to override hadoop configs through CLI

In the CLI:
hive> set fs.swift.service.myservice.username;
fs.swift.service.myservice.username is undefined

hive> set fs.swift.service.myservice.username=admin;
hive> set fs.swift.service.myservice.username;
fs.swift.service.myservice.username=admin

hive> create table simple_table(field STRING) location
'swift://container.myservice/input/';
FAILED: Execution Error, return code 1 from
org.apache.hadoop.hive.ql.exec.DDLTask. MetaException(message:Got
exception:
org.apache.hadoop.fs.swift.exceptions.SwiftConfigurationException Missing
mandatory configuration option: fs.swift.service.myservice.username)

But defining this property in hive-site.xml permanently and then restarting
metastore service does effect.
