Subject [jira] [Commented] (HIVE-4545) HS2 should return describe table results without space padding
Date Thu, 15 Aug 2013 22:19:53 GMT

Brock Noland commented on HIVE-4545:

Long story short I don't think that will work. The script that kicks off these precommit jobs
is shared between a bunch of projects and is generally need of a re-write. The jira HADOOP-9765
is on my queue.

If you'd like a new run, either:

1) Submit a new patch
2) Click build here entering your jira number as a parameter:
(any committer to any project can do that)

> HIVE-3140 changed behavior of 'DESCRIBE table;' to be like 'DESCRIBE FORMATTED table;'.
HIVE-3140 introduced changes to not print header in 'DESCRIBE table;'. But jdbc/odbc calls
still get fields padded with space for the 'DESCRIBE table;' query.
> As the jdbc/odbc results are not for direct human consumption the space padding should
not be done for hive server2.
