Subject [jira] [Commented] (HIVE-4907) Allow additional tests cases to be specified with -Dtestcase

Gunther Hagleitner commented on HIVE-4907:
------------------------------------------

I like it. There are situations when you want to say something like:

ant test -D testcase=TestCliDriver,TestMinimrCliDriver -Dqfile_regex="smb_.*"

to run all smb tests in both testcases.

I would just apply the qfile, qfile_regex filter to all testcases in the list. Also, I think
comma separated testcase is nicer than adding classes with additional.testcases, isn't it?

The missing piece is to either ignore qfiles that don't exist or only ignore them when multiple
tests are specified. I don't think that would be that bad, for instance: I believe we already
ignore testcases when they don't exist without failure and if qfile_regex doesn't match anything
we don't complain either.

> Currently we only allow a single tests case to be specified with -Dtestcase. It'd be
ideal if we could add on additional test cases as this would allow us to batch the unit tests
in ptest2.
