&& wouldn't allow short circuiting if hashCodes were equal, only if they're unequal.
This change definitely assumes that we won't be unlucky and have a hashcode collision. An
alternative is to give each RecordReader an Id and keep track of which readers have the correct
schema in the deserializer. All the records from the same reader should have the same schema
