Subject [jira] [Resolved] (HIVE-3730) Include the metastore hostname when a connection to metastore fails due to Acces Denied
Date Sat, 29 Dec 2012 03:48:13 GMT

     [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-3730?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:all-tabpanel

Ashutosh Chauhan resolved HIVE-3730.
------------------------------------

    Resolution: Invalid

<client_hostname> is the mysql host on which access is denied. Further, this exception
and thus the corresponding error message is thrown from datanucleus which cannot be modified
easily.

> The current error message (from a mysql metastore) looks like {{Access denied for user
'hive'@'<client_hostname>'}}. This doesn't include the actual metastore hostname which
makes it a bit harder to debug. It would be nice if this error message looked something like:
{{Access denied for user 'hive'@'<client_hostname>' connecting to <metastore_hostname>}}
> Example error:
> {code}
>  javax.jdo.JDOFatalDataStoreException: Access denied for user 'hive'@'client_hostname'
