Subject [jira] [Updated] (HIVE-727) Hive Server getSchema() returns wrong schema for "Explain" queries
Date Thu, 20 Oct 2011 23:00:12 GMT

Prasad Mujumdar updated HIVE-727:

    Status: Patch Available (was: Open)

Added a method to get result schema from a Task. The ExplainSemanticAnalyzer invokes this
to get the schema for explain statement which is a single string column.

> The Hive Server's getSchema() function will return a schema with zero fields when executing
an "Explain..." query. A quick fix might be to set the default schema to be exactly one column
of type string.
