Subject [jira] [Updated] (HELIX-149) Allow clients to pass in preferred placement strategies
Date Tue, 30 Jul 2013 21:03:49 GMT

Kanak Biscuitwala updated HELIX-149:

    Attachment: 0001-HELIX-149-Allow-clients-to-pass-in-preferred-placeme.patch

The fix is attached.

The general approach is to define an interface through which clients can specify a node to
assign to given properties of the replica (ReplicaPlacementScheme). I moved the existing scheme
to a "default" implementation of this interface (DefaultPlacementScheme), so there is currently
no net change.

> It would be nice for the auto rebalancer to accept custom preferred placement techniques,
i.e. given a replica and partition, which node should serve it?
