That would be quite handy, but it is too late for this release. Anyways,
we happily accept patches ;-)

Standard j.n.URI should do the trick

boolean validURL;
try {
    URI uri = new URI("https://username:password@host");
    System.out.println(uri.getUserInfo());
    validURL = true;
} catch (URISyntaxException ex) {
    validURL = false;
}
