Try updating to 3.0.1 or newer.

This seems strange....When I go through my proxy this "CONNECT" is
either a GET or POST.

Can you successfully get to this site using a regular browser ? If so
try capturing the network traffic to see what is different between the
one that works and the one that does not.

Firefox has a plugin called Tamper Data:
