Subject [jira] [Commented] (HTTPCLIENT-1515) Caching responses to HEAD requests
Date Thu, 12 Jun 2014 15:19:13 GMT

Oleg Kalnichevski commented on HTTPCLIENT-1515:

bq. What I understand is that a GET and HEAD request to the same resource should get exactly
the same headers.

Just a remark: such was always my belief, too. However, in newer revisions of the protocol
(>= 1.1bis) this may no longer be the case. Response to a HEAD method would have to contain
the same _content_ headers only.

PS: Folks, _please_ do not forget to vote!

> Our system retrieves metadata via HEAD requests using HTTP Client 4.x and would benefit
immensely from having the headers in the response cached.
