Raul Kripalani commented on HTTPCLIENT-1398:
--------------------------------------------

Hello [~olegk],

I'm writing on behalf of the Apache Camel project. We're eager to upgrade to Apache HttpClient
4.3 for use by our camel-http4 component. In fact, we already started the process, but unfortunately
we're faced with no other option than to revert it due to this issue and HTTPCLIENT-1400,
as it happens that we have quite a large OSGi user base.

What's more, this issue also affects several other Open Source libraries such as: aws-java-sdk,
CouchDB driver, Apache Solr Java driver, HBase driver, all of which expect the private packages
to be available in the OSGi container. The associated Camel components are also affected
transitively: camel-aws, camel-couchdb, camel-solr, camel-hbase.

We would truly appreciate that the Apache HTTP Components project scheduled a 4.3.1 ASAP,
in order to make the Apache HTTP 4.3.x version line available to OSGi users as soon as possible.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us on the dev@camel list if we can be of further
assistance.

Many thanks,
Raúl.

> Because the package "org.apache.http.impl.client" in the MANIFEST.MF is declared as private
and NOT exported, nobody is able to access the builder classes for building a HttpClient instance.
