Subject [jira] [Commented] (HTTPCLIENT-1360) Expose DeflateInputStream as an independent class
Date Wed, 29 May 2013 09:18:20 GMT

Oleg Kalnichevski commented on HTTPCLIENT-1360:

Why should I object? Please go ahead. I would only suggest that this change be done on trunk
rather than 4.2.x. Ideally we ought not introduce new features on a stable branch. There will
be 4.3-beta3 soon. It might be the right moment to consider upgrading to 4.3.

> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HTTPCLIENT-1360
> Project: HttpComponents HttpClient

> Components: HttpClient

> Reporter: Karl Wright
> The DeflateDecompressingEntity class performs a fairly involved bit of logic to decide
how to decompress deflated data. It would be great if this logic were wrapped up as an InputStream
wrapper (implementing InputStream, of course), so that it could be used by logic that cannot
use an entity override for this purpose.
> (The specific case is that ManifoldCF needs to perform throttling *before* deflation/decompression,
so it can't use the off-the-shelf entities provided for this purpose.)
