Hello Gustavo,

This is a known limitation of HttpClient 2.0.  The problem has been resolved in HttpClient
3.0 with 
HttpMethodParams.setSoTimeout() (e.g. method.getParams().setSoTimeout(value)).  Please have
a look 
and let us know what you think.
