HttpClient is in need of careful revision of the entire exception handling
logic. There has to be a clear distinction between protocol exceptions
(malformed request, malformed response, unsupported protocol version, etc) and
transport exceptions (read/write failures, read/write timeouts). Likewise
distinction should be made between recoverable and non-recoverable transport
exceptions.
