It seems to be an issue with the SimpleHttpServer. I tried this code against
Tomcat and Apache running locally and had no trouble.  In particular I believe
the call to close the output stream at the end of the response is the culprit. 
Removing this line fixes things.

I forget where I read this recently but closing the stream explictly can cause
problems.  It has something to do with the stream being reset before the data
can be read on the client side.
