Unfortunately for the latest poster, the default connection manager for
HttpClient is not MultiThreadedConnectionManager, so of course his alteration
with multiple threads fails.

If we do anything for this bug, it would be that we change the default
HttpClient connection manager to the multi-threaded one, but that has some
potential bad side effects for code (apparent lock-ups) that does not have the
discipline to ensure that releaseConnection() gets called for all requests.
