I usually have a class called BaseTest that every test class extends and I
configure me logging there.


public class BaseTest {

    @BeforeClass
    public static void init(){
        BasicConfigurator.configure();
        org.apache.log4j.Logger.getRootLogger().setLevel(Level.ERROR);
    }
}
