Subject [jira] [Commented] (HBASE-19301) Provide way for CPs to create short circuited connection with custom configurations
Date Mon, 20 Nov 2017 17:42:00 GMT

Anoop Sam John commented on HBASE-19301:

So u were suggesting that the normal way of connection creation should make the short circuited
version if called within RS context? I am not sure how. Because the ShortCircuitingClusterConnection
would need refs to RSRpcServices which is there with HRS only. Not sure how the normal ConnectionFactory
create will get those refs. We have to make the creation within HRS code and that is why we
have to add in the CPEnv which is what exposed to user.

> Over in HBASE-18359 we have discussions for this.
> Right now HBase provide getConnection() in RegionCPEnv, MasterCPEnv etc. But this returns
a pre created connection (per server). This uses the configs at hbase-site.xml at that server.

> Phoenix needs creating connection in CP with some custom configs. Having this custom
changes in hbase-site.xml is harmful as that will affect all connections been created at that
> This issue is for providing an overloaded getConnection(Configuration) API
