Subject [jira] [Updated] (HBASE-18725) [C++] Install header files as well as library
Date Fri, 15 Sep 2017 02:31:00 GMT

Enis Soztutar updated HBASE-18725:
    Attachment: hbase-18725-v1.patch

This is the v1 patch which moves almost all of the headers to include dir, fixes buck build
and bunch of related stuff relevant for the build.

I have tested the library and the headers from the {{make install}} command by compiling load-client.cc
as an independent application with a custom Makefile. The repository for that is here: https://github.com/enis/hbase-native-client-example.

For reference, the buck build got changed to {{buck src/hbase/client:simple-client}}.

> Priority: Critical
> Fix For: HBASE-14850

> Currently "make install" only installs libHbaseClient[_d].[so|a], but in order for the
library to be useful for building applications, we'll need to install the header files also.
> This, of course, brings up another problem: that the headers aren't in their own directory
structure, so that application includes could look something like: #include <hbase/...>
> I suggest that we create an hbase sub-directory (under hbase-native-client), move all
the [public] headers into there (we can keep the current directory structure under that, i.e.
hbase/core/cell.h, etc.)
